Credits and attribution

Use this page as the reference for crediting NIMBO content in reports, presentations, screenshots, exported images and derived analyses.

It separates internal professional use, third-party sharing and source attribution. Attribution alone does not authorize an export.

Pro and Pro HD allow internal professional use by the licensed user, including work in a GIS. Sharing deliverables with clients follows the rules below; it does not give clients access to the NIMBO service.

Full-resolution NIMBO imagery and renders must not be shared with third parties, including HD or 4K image exports. Inserting an image in a PDF, presentation or video does not remove this restriction. Exports that enable abusive redistribution of the underlying imagery are prohibited.

Degraded imagery may be usable in deliverables for third parties if NIMBO is informed and explicitly credited, along with the applicable source attributions. This is not an automatic general authorization. Informing NIMBO does not mean obtaining prior approval. Notification and attribution do not make a full-resolution export permissible.

Pro and Pro HD subscribers may provide statistics and vector outputs derived from NIMBO data to clients, in reports or as deliverables, with NIMBO and the applicable source attributions. The restriction on full-resolution imagery does not prohibit these statistical or vector outputs. This permission does not include retransmitting the raw imagery stream, sharing an account or token, or giving clients access to the NIMBO service.

No maximum pixel count, image dimensions, print resolution or area threshold has been defined. There is no defined reduction ratio, compression level, blur or other automatic test for degraded imagery. Contact NIMBO to clarify an ambiguous case.

Applicable upstream source licences and attribution can vary by product and area; contact NIMBO if these are unclear.

Standard attribution for NIMBO imagery

For NIMBO products derived from Copernicus Sentinel data, use the following credit:

NIMBO by KERMAP. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data [YEAR].

Replace [YEAR] with the year of the NIMBO imagery used. Do not leave the placeholder in the published deliverable.

This attribution applies to NIMBO imagery products such as:

NIMBO RGB basemaps;
NIR and NDVI layers;
NIMBO HD;
Traceability, and Confidence only when provided on request and used within its agreed scope.

Which year should you use?

Use the year displayed in the NIMBO layer or mosaic used in the deliverable.

For one image, use that image’s year.
For a before-and-after comparison, include both years.
For a time series, list the covered years or use a clear year range.
For a custom Enterprise data delivery, use the attribution supplied with the delivery.

Where to place the attribution

The attribution must be visible, readable and clearly associated with the NIMBO content.

Do not rely only on a general credit at the end of a long report when individual maps or images may be extracted and reused separately.

The text may be small, but it must remain legible at the normal viewing or printing size of the deliverable.

Uses that require Enterprise

Interactive client-facing map services, OEM integration, multi-user access and redistribution of the service require specific Enterprise terms. No blanket full-resolution third-party image export permission is granted here. File availability and delivery formats remain to be clarified.

NIMBO Terrain attribution

Terrain-RGB, Terrarium and Hillshade are distinct products. Credit NIMBO and the upstream providers applicable to the product and area used; do not treat the Terrain-RGB source table as the provenance of every relief product.

Copernicus WorldDEM-30 areas

Use the source-specific notice in the Terrain-RGB source table where Copernicus WorldDEM-30 has been used. Source credits do not establish a complete licence or an exact integrated source edition.

Combining imagery and terrain

When a map combines NIMBO satellite imagery with NIMBO Terrain, include both:

the NIMBO / Copernicus Sentinel imagery credit;
the applicable NIMBO Terrain and elevation-source credit.

Example structure:

Imagery: NIMBO by KERMAP. Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2026.
Terrain: NIMBO Terrain by KERMAP. [Applicable elevation-source credit].

Attribution rules

Keep the attribution visible and legible.
Credit both NIMBO and the applicable source datasets.
Replace [YEAR] with the correct year or years.
Use the attribution associated with the specific NIMBO product used.
Do not imply that KERMAP, Copernicus, the European Union or ESA endorses your work.
Do not remove attribution because an image has been cropped, restyled or annotated.
Do not share a NIMBO account, token or map-service URL with a client under Pro or Pro HD.
Attribution does not grant resale, redistribution, OEM or data-delivery rights.

Frequently asked questions

Can I include a NIMBO map in a client report?

Degraded imagery may be usable with NIMBO informed and credited, plus the applicable source credits. This is not automatic permission or a requirement for prior approval. No numerical export threshold or automatic definition of degraded imagery is set. Contact NIMBO about ambiguous cases.

Can I use a NIMBO screenshot in a presentation?

Do not share full-resolution imagery or HD/4K image exports with third parties, including inside PDFs, presentations or videos.

Can I send a derived analysis to a client?

Pro and Pro HD allow statistics and vector outputs in client deliverables, with NIMBO and source credits. Raw imagery streams, accounts, tokens and service access are not included.

What is the maximum image size allowed?

No numerical export threshold or automatic definition of degraded imagery is set. Contact NIMBO about ambiguous cases.

Can my client access the interactive map?

Not under Pro or Pro HD. Interactive client access requires an Enterprise agreement.

Can I crop the attribution out of a screenshot?

You may crop or format the image, but you must add the required attribution to the final deliverable.

Is “Source: Copernicus” sufficient?

No. NIMBO is the processed product used in the deliverable, so both NIMBO and the applicable Copernicus source notice must be credited.

Do I need to mention ESA?

For NIMBO products based on Sentinel data, use the standard Copernicus Sentinel notice shown on this page. Some other products, including certain Terrain sources, may require a longer source-specific notice mentioning ESA or other institutions.

What if my use is not covered here?

For an ambiguous case, contact NIMBO to clarify the applicable scope. The information obligation for degraded data is not a requirement for prior approval.
