GeoCredits

Instead of traditional “rate limits”, NIMBO uses a GeoCredit system to make data access simple, fair, and transparent.

Every time you request a map tile (via TMS, WMS or WMTS), you spend one GeoCredit.
That’s it : 1 tile = 1 GeoCredit.

A GeoCredit (GC) is the basic unit of usage in NIMBO.
Each time your application or GIS software requests a tile image (256×256 px), one GeoCredit is deducted from your monthly balance.

ActionGeoCredits used
Load one map tile in a viewer1 GC
Pan or zoom (loading 10–20 tiles)≈10–20 GC
Display a small city area≈100 GC
Load a full country view≈1 000 GC

💡 Tip: most web browser can cache tiles, so moving back to an already visited area doesn’t always consume additional GeoCredits.

Each subscription includes a number of monthly GeoCredits:

PlanMonthly allowanceTypical usage
Discovery2 000 GC / monthOccasional use, testing, demos
Pro20 000 GC / monthRegular use, projects, production dashboards
Pro HD40 000 GC / monthRegular use, projects, production dashboards, Nimbo HD
EnterpriseCustomizable GC / monthHeavy users, integrations, or national-scale projects

🔁 GeoCredits renew automatically each month.
If you reach your limit, access is temporarily paused until renewal or upgrade.

You can track your remaining GeoCredits at
👉 maps.nimbo.earth/myNimbo/dashboardUsage & Balance

Displayed values include:

  • Remaining credits for the current month
  • Estimated reset date
  • Daily consumption chart

If you exceed your balance, NIMBO will show a “GeoCredit limit reached” message instead of new tiles.

In the response header of the Map stream, you can find X-Kermap-Available-Credits with the remaining credits for the current month.

Need more GeoCredits? You have two options:

  1. Upgrade your plan in your account settings (immediate effect)
  2. Add extra GeoCredit packs — one-off purchases available on demand

Example: 10 000 additional GeoCredits for a time-limited project or event.
